Welcome to The Hospital Broadcasting Service website.

The Hospital Broadcasting Service or HBS is a radio station that has been broadcasting to hospitals in the Glasgow and Paisley area for over 40 years. The station began broadcasting on Christmas Day 1970 and we currently serve five hospitals from our studios in Glasgow city centre, where we are committed to providing high quality radio programmes for our listeners.

As we are a charity we rely solely on donations and fundraising. We currently have over 80 members who volunteer their time in many different roles including library volunteering, request collecting and presenting.

We provide a great range of programmes as well as our nightly request show ‘The Open Line’, where our listeners decide which music we play. As we have a huge selection of tracks to choose from we are able to accommodate all musical tastes.

Due to HBS’s reputation for quality broadcasting, many household names have begun their careers with the station.
